How Therapy for Depression Can Help
In Depression Therapy, I create a safe space where you can remove the dark cloud hanging over your head and get back to basking in the sun. Together, we will identify life stressors that start the downward spiral, recognize how stress impacts your mind and body, and practice coping skills that empower a regulated response.

No, I do not prescribe, adjust or discontinue medication. However, I can refer you to a prescribing physician.
-
Starting therapy should feel clear, supportive and pressure free. In our intake session, we will review informed consent and confidentiality, explore the roles and responsibilities between Client and Therapist, gather background information, and answer any questions you may have. If we agree to move forward with a therapeutic relationship, we will schedule future sessions.
During our first therapy session, we will identify the problems that led you to therapy, create therapy goals to work on and list specific changes you want to see from your progress. It is important to discuss your therapeutic journey in advance so as it unfolds, you can recognize your efforts toward successful outcomes.
Each session thereafter will give us opportunities to identify problems, break down goals into small action steps, and monitor progress. This can look like discussing emotions, accepting lived experiences, practicing helpful skills, and implementing effective change. We celebrate progress, not perfection so you have to be an active participant in your success on this journey!
-
That is completely OK. Therapy works best when there is a good match. If another level or type of care is appropriate, we will discuss that openly.
